What to Expect on an AmazingCo Mystery Picnic

July 28, 2022July 28, 2022 Post a comment
What to Expect on an AmazingCo Mystery Picnic

Y’all know I love food and exploring what Boston has to offer. A few weeks ago, I talked to my husband about wanting to do a food tour in Boston. Then I got an email about a fantastic partnership opportunity that I thought would be fun to do. What could that be? An AmazingCo Mystery Picnic in the Back Bay area of Boston.

Not going to lie; I hadn’t heard much of AmazingCo when I read the email. After researching, reading all of their positive reviews, and stalking their Instagram, I knew I wanted to go on this unique adventure.

Since I could bring a friend, I invited my photographer/husband with me to discover what Back Bay had to offer. We had the chance to pick other parts of Boston, like downtown, but Back Bay was an easier trek for us.

And let me say that going on the AmazingCo Mystery Picnic was a BLAST!

Types of AmazingCo Experiences

While stalking the AmazingCo website, I noticed that there is something for everyone. There were events for couples, friend groups, family, and even something for at home. For the Boston area couples, a few examples of AmazingCo experiences include mystery picnic dates, mystery weekends, and the staycation experience.

Are you hanging out with family or trying to romance your boo? AmazingCo has something for you. Each experience has its description, so you can check out what works best for your situation.

How To Book

Booking is pretty simple, from what I assume anyway. You click on the city you want to have your experience and what type you want. From there, you will get details on what is included and details. Before booking, you will build your experience. You will select if the gift is for you or someone else, the number of people, if you want the basic or exclusive experience, dietary requirements, and if you’d like to add anything special like wine. Lastly, you book the time and date of your experience.

Your AmazingCo picnic will be outside, which means that you need to keep an eye out for the weather. Some of the experiences have indoor-friendly destinations. You can reach out to a concierge. But, sometimes, you might have to reschedule due to rain. Again, reach out to the concierge 3-business days before your experience, and they will gladly reschedule for you.

How Does the AmazingCo Mystery Picnic Work

Do you have your AmazingCo Mystery Picnic booked? Perfect, let me tell you how it works.

You will get your first clue via email a day or two before the picnic. I also notice that you will access all your hints via email, so try not to ruin the surprise and stick to the first clue. My husband tried to cheat, but I caught him. Clues include games, puzzles, and riddles. Bring a small notebook and a pencil to help you figure out the clues, especially if you are new to the area. Also, ensure your phone is fully charged, and perhaps even bring a backup charger or battery pack.

Since you decide on the time of day, make sure to give yourself time to enjoy the experience. We started right at noon and took around 2-3 hours to figure out each clue, walk to each place, and pick up our food. From what their website states, the average time is 3-4 hours round trip, including enjoying your picnic. So make sure you give yourself time to enjoy the food and the fun! Remember, if you decide to do an evening picnic, restaurants can close before you get there, so be wary of that.

Also, if you can’t figure out the clue, you get hints and even a button that will solve your clue.

Food and drinks are free since you paid for them. I’m not going to tell you where our food was from (to avoid ruining the surprise), but our food was freaking delicious. We had salad, a chicken sandwich, a small charcuterie board, donuts, and two non-alcoholic drinks. Our cover photo is what our picnic looked like with all the food.

You must bring your picnic blanket and a good-sized insulated bag to keep your food fresh. I bought my picnic blanket from Marshall’s. Our plates, glasses, and utensils come from a picnic backpack we got as a wedding gift. If you want your setup to look at cute as ours, I would recommend bringing your picnic-friendly own set.

Overall Experience with My AmazingCo Mystery Picnic

My husband and I had THE BEST TIME during our AmazingCo Mystery Picnic experience. We got all of our 10K steps, tried some new delicious food, and just had fun exploring Back Bay. One thing that I loved about the clues was that there was information regarding the neighborhood, the restaurant, and even Boston history. It truly felt like a food and walking tour. I would like to note that Boston is a walking-friendly city, which means that other cities might have you drive around. But regardless, the AmazingCo Mystery Picnic is a perfect way to get to know the city and its food scene.
